polished wood
shimmering
        with apparitions

early morning
stillness brimming the street -
New Year's Day

wide fields
basking in the sun
a lone hare jumps

midweek rain...
slicing away mold
from the bread

out of the scree
listening to water
arguing over stones

bumblebees
yellowed with pollen
and sun

silver web
in the morning light
and the spider?

lone horse
contemplating the sky -
the still pond

rainbows of lichen
and rings of pollen...
this rock, not so lonely

afternoon sun -
the butterfly landing
        on its own shadow

the eulogy -
his grandchildren
chasing white butterflies
